Romans 11:6 And if by grace, then is it no more of works: otherwise grace is no more grace. But if it be of works, then is it no more grace: otherwise work is no more work.
God's grace in Christ is not based on works or law.
Romans 6:14 For sin shall not have dominion over you: for you are not under the law, but under grace
Works and law are contrary to God's grace.
Be kind: Keep your posts short, quote no more than two verses per post. If you can't do that, open your own "new topic." Thanks for helping with this discussion. I'll be honest with you, if you post a ton of verses, I don't read your posts.
"Ive often wondered if Luther were alive today and came to our culture and looked, not at the liberal church community, but at EVANGELICAL CHURCHES, what would he have to say? Of course I cant answer that question with any kind of definitive authority, but my guess is this: If Martin Luther lived today and picked up his pen to write, the book he would write in our time would be entitled The Pelagian Captivity of the Evangelical Church."
R C Sproul wrote the above. If you like him, I'm in good company. If you don't like him, then according to some, he and I both would be liars. Remember one thing, it isn't what I or anyone else says that the Word says. God will not excuse us because we followed the teachings of any person. Paul even says that if he preaches falsely, he would be under the anathema.
Galatians 1:8 But though we, or an angel from heaven, preach any other gospel to you than that which we have preached to you, let him be accursed.
Gal 1:9 As we said before, so say I now again, If any one preaches any other gospel to you than that you have received, let him be accursed.
I have a lot of respect for R.C.Sproul. I appreciate you quoting him. I’m very sorry Montanagrace, I completely misunderstood your other post. I think this is going to be a lesson for me to just ask more questions before jumping to conclusions. Sad to say, this missed opportunity isn’t my first time failing to give someone else’s writings the benefit of the doubt!! Kind of embarrassing having to admit that!
Ephesians 2:4 But God, who is abundant in mercy, because of his much great love with which he loved us,
5 Even when we were dead in sins, he made us alive together with Christ, (by grace you have been saved)
After talking about our deadness in trespasses and sins, God has Paul spell out how we lived our lives in the desires of our flesh, doing the wills of our flesh and of our thoughts. Then he writes "but God." He describes Him as being in essence and character as one who is abundant and rich in mercy. That is one thing that we need-mercy. But He is merciful because of His much or great love toward us. Paul writes that God was like that toward us while we were dead in sins. It is He who made us alive together with Christ. Then he reminds the Ephesians and us that it is "by grace you have been saved." It indicates that we were saved, not by our doing, but by God's doing. This action of salvation was accomplished in the past and the results still continue. We could say, "by grace you exist now as those having been saved." This passage helps us to see how God's love and mercy and grace work together.
We can say that we are saved by grace. But do we add things for attaining and maintaining and holding onto salvation? Do we believe it is the work of God or ours?
More empty reasoning out of context, and here are more satanic quotes according to the understanding" of the deceivers names in the last days...prophets.
The head of the man of God is Christ, what is the point in having any crown when we have a head given to us? salvation is saved from death to life, and any crown is a crown of life, that is the promise of the Lord. The same crown of righteousness, and that reward for righteousness is God, as the reward He gives us is His judgement in the earth. The Lord is our crown of glory.....
1 Corinthians 11:3 But I would have you know, that the head of every man is Christ; and the head of the woman is the man; and the head of Christ is God.
James 1:12 Blessed is the man that endureth temptation: for when he is tried, he shall receive the crown of life, which the Lord hath promised to them that love him.
Revelation 2:10 Fear none of those things which thou shalt suffer: behold, the devil shall cast some of you into prison, that ye may be tried; and ye shall have tribulation ten days: be thou faithful unto death, and I will give thee a crown of life.
2 Timothy 4:8 Henceforth there is laid up for me a crown of righteousness, which the Lord, the righteous judge, shall give me at that day: and not to me only, but unto all them also that love his appearing.
Psalm 58:11 So that a man shall say, Verily there is a reward for the righteous: verily he is a God that judgeth in the earth.
Isaiah 28:5 In that day shall the Lord of hosts be for a crown of glory, and for a diadem of beauty, unto the residue of his people,
The reward is the same salvation, the only sure reward, everlasting life and all other rewards mean zero if you are dead forever. The reward is when your expectation/life is not cut off. The blessing is life for evermore, there is no other blessing. No reward to evil men, they are destroyed forever, they receive not the reward of life. There is no more reward for the wicked, the memory of him is forgotten as he received not the reward of eternal life...
Proverbs 11:18 The wicked worketh a deceitful work: but to him that soweth righteousness shall be a sure reward.
Proverbs 24:14 So shall the knowledge of wisdom be unto thy soul: when thou hast found it, then there shall be a reward, and thy expectation shall not be cut off.
Psalm 133:3 As the dew of Hermon, and as the dew that descended upon the mountains of Zion: for there the Lord commanded the blessing, even life for evermore.
Proverbs 24:20 For there shall be no reward to the evil man; the candle of the wicked shall be put out.
Ecclesiastes 9:5 For the living know that they shall die: but the dead know not any thing, neither have they any more a reward; for the memory of them is forgotten.
The rebellious follow after rewards, they reward evil to themselves and evil=eternal destruction, the righteous eat reward of Holiness, that fruit of the Spirit as there is nothing else to receive, they received all, already..
Isaiah 1:23 Thy princes are rebellious, and companions of thieves: every one loveth gifts, and followeth after rewards: they judge not the fatherless, neither doth the cause of the widow come unto them.
Isaiah 3:9 The shew of their countenance doth witness against them; and they declare their sin as Sodom, they hide it not. Woe unto their soul! for they have rewarded evil unto themselves.
10 Say ye to the righteous, that it shall be well with him: for they shall eat the fruit of their doings.
11 Woe unto the wicked! it shall be ill with him: for the reward of his hands shall be given him.
When Christ came to earth, he brought the work of the Lord and the reward of the Spirit of life already, feeding the lambs with righteousness(they thirst for nothing else) and the Lord did all not for reward but through love which seeks not her on but for you, the God is Israel will be your reward, the Lord shall be your reward as you walk in Is righteous Spirit, and it is declared to us, thy SALVATION cometh, His REWARD IS WITH HIM, and the deceivers of the world do all for reward, and still insist the Lord is with them for their evil denying and not teaching the righteousness of the cross..
Isaiah 40:10 Behold, the Lord God will come with strong hand, and his arm shall rule for him: behold, his reward is with him, and his work before him.
11 He shall feed his flock like a shepherd: he shall gather the lambs with his arm, and carry them in his bosom, and shall gently lead those that are with young.
Isaiah 45:13 I have raised him up in righteousness, and I will direct all his ways: he shall build my city, and he shall let go my captives, not for price nor reward, saith the Lord of hosts.
Isaiah 52:12 For ye shall not go out with haste, nor go by flight: for the Lord will go before you; and the God of Israel will be your reward.
Isaiah 58:8 Then shall thy light break forth as the morning, and thine health shall spring forth speedily: and thy righteousness shall go before thee; the glory of the Lord shall be thy reward.
Isaiah 62:11 Behold, the Lord hath proclaimed unto the end of the world, Say ye to the daughter of Zion, Behold, thy salvation cometh; behold, his reward is with him, and his work before him.
Micah 3:11 The heads thereof judge for reward, and the priests thereof teach for hire, and the prophets thereof divine for money: yet will they lean upon the Lord, and say, Is not the Lord among us? none evil can come upon us.
Now prophetic confirms that His reward is with Him, Christ gives the Holy Spirit, the Spirit of life to those who believe and those who believe no receive not the Spirit of life..
Revelation 22:12 Jesus says, Behold I am coming soon! My **REWARD** is with Me, and I will give to everyone according to what he has done!
Luke 18:20-25: Jesus said to the rich man, "You still lack one thing. Sell what you have and give to the poor, and you will have **TREASURE IN HEAVEN**. Then come, **FOLLOW ME**. When he heard this he became very sad, because he was very wealthy. Jesus looked at him and said, "How hard it is for a rich man to enter the kingdom of God! Indeed, it is easier for a camel to go through the eye of a needle then for someone who is rich to enter the kingdom of God!"
Prophetic here wants us to believe that a rich mans lusts is encouraged more by God giving riches also of treasure. Or the treasure is in us, the Spirit of life that bears love joy and peace which rich believing people don't want and go away from that idea..
"NOTE: In addition to eternal life Jesus also promised the rich man eternal **ETERNAL TREASURES IN HEAVEN**"
Now prophetic pushes praying to be forgiven. But by the hope of the resurrection of the just, we cant pray for what we do and fulfill, by having always a conscience that is no WITHOUT OFFENCE to God and man..
Acts 24:15 And have hope toward God, which they themselves also allow, that there shall be a resurrection of the dead, both of the just and unjust.
16 And herein do I exercise myself, to have always a conscience void to offence toward God, and toward men.
How do you pray to be always forgiven when it is a GOOD CONSCIENCE that SAVES us now?
1 Peter 3:21 The like figure whereunto even baptism doth also now save us (not the putting away of the filth of the flesh, but the answer of a good conscience toward God,) by the resurrection of Jesus Christ:
22 Who is gone into heaven, and is on the right hand of God; angels and authorities and powers being made subject unto him.
PRAY ALWAYS, not to be forgiven for the wrong we do and the failure we are, but for what? PRAY ALWAYS TO BE ACCOUNTED WORTHY
Luke 21:36 Watch ye therefore, and pray always, that ye may be accounted worthy to escape all these things that shall come to pass, and to stand before the Son of man.
PRAY ALWAYS TO BE COUNTED WORTHY OF THE CALLING, THAT THE NAME OF CHRIST IS GLORIFIED IN US BY NO LONGER FALLING SHORT OF THE GLORY AS TOLD
2 Thessalonians 1:11 Wherefore also we pray always for you, that our God would count you worthy of this calling, and fulfil all the good pleasure of his goodness, and the work of faith with power:
12 That the name of our Lord Jesus Christ may be glorified in you, and ye in him, according to the grace of our God and the Lord Jesus Christ.
We pray to be forgiven for failing or we pray to stop falling short of the Lords glory and now pray the newer way of CALLED, JUSTIFIED AND GLORIFIED..
Romans 3:23 For all have sinned, and come short of the glory of God;..
Romans 8:30 Moreover whom he did predestinate, them he also called: and whom he called, them he also justified: and whom he justified, them he also glorified.
When a believer eats and drinks unworthily(as above we pray to walk worthy of God not pray always failing nonsense) and then we get sickly by not discerning the Lords body. So when sick it is in the sins we do by not being worthy of the Lord, and the prayer of faith can bring healing, and when judged of the Lord we are chastened to not repeat those sins, otherwise we will never be worthy of the Lords calling or be justified or glorified..
1 Corinthians 11:29 For he that eateth and drinketh unworthily, eateth and drinketh damnation to himself, not discerning the Lord's body.
30 For this cause many are weak and sickly among you, and many sleep.
31 For if we would judge ourselves, we should not be judged.
32 But when we are judged, we are chastened of the Lord, that we should not be condemned with the world.
James 5:14 Is any sick among you? let him call for the elders of the church; and let them pray over him, anointing him with oil in the name of the Lord:
15 And the prayer of faith shall save the sick, and the Lord shall raise him up; and if he have committed sins, they shall be forgiven him.
Include all information not leave it out like the deceiver likes to, and we see, the sinner is not yet converted from the errror of his ways, and the liar says you only need to pray for your sins, but the key word is converted, and be as little children is the conversion to enter the kingdom of Heaven humbled and obedient, as we can read..
James 5:19 Brethren, if any of you do err from the truth, and one convert him;
20 Let him know, that he which converteth the sinner from the error of his way shall save a soul from death, and shall hide a multitude of sins.
1 Peter 1:14 As obedient children, not fashioning yourselves according to the former lusts in your ignorance:
15 But as he which hath called you is holy, so be ye holy in all manner of conversation;
16 Because it is written, Be ye holy; for I am holy.
Matthew 18:3 And said, Verily I say unto you, Except ye be converted, and become as little children, ye shall not enter into the kingdom of heaven.
