THE FUTURE AND JOBS

The future of manufacturing is automation.

For the U.S. markets to be competitive in manufacturing, the U.S. must go all out in a.i. and automation. In order to be profitable, that is what must happen. That is our future.

I worked for the U.S. Post Service in a major city.

You'd be amazed how many lazy worthless workers were there that little raised a finger to do their job. Then they accept over-time and do the same. Or wait, they go out on the balcony and sit for three hours and play cards and get paid for not doing their job. They disappear from the area they are supposed to work and get paid. Some would read newspapers and do crossword puzzle instead of doing their job. Some went on eternal cigarette breaks. Then some are injured away from work, then claim work comp and get on "light-duty" for injuries they did not even get from work when they do nothing at work, so how do they get injured? And those are the ones they hire. The world is going to automation. Who would want to hire such employees as the government often hires and companies end up with? No one would want to hire the quality of workers we have and pay the benefits they get and pay the bad workers and worthless workers the pay that they often get. Better to pay cheap labor in a foreign country where there isn't all the bureaucracy. Surely, the human workforce is going to be going into the unemployment line Big Time. People would rather have automation and a.i. than humans

I enjoyed learning that you used to be a postal employee! You are correct about the world becoming more and more automated. In my opinion this fact brings up a few important issues. (Normally I would be against the idea of universal basic income because in the past the idea was closely associated with communism...but in the not to distant future machines will do most of the work.)

Question #1 people need to ask themselves is 'How would I spend my time if money was not an object? For example, if machines were able to plant and pick food some farmers and gardeners would stop working so hard...I enjoy the challenge.

This leads to another important point, in the past good while society has entermingled the ideas of needing to work and therefore work is bad. But work is not a bad word its a scientific word that means a push or pull on an object.

I know people that have "retired" and they think that doing whatever they want will be fun, and it might be for a few months. But what retirement boils down to is being able to be a self starter.

But some people are convinced that work is bad so I guess the future of thoes people will be like the people in the movie Wall-e

-The people of Earth ride around this space resort on hovering chairs which give them a constant feed of TV and video chatting. They drink all of their meals through a straw out of laziness and/or bone loss, and are all so fat that they can barely move.-
