South Africa Ethnic Cleansing gearing up

Here is a shortlist of video discussions and documentaries etc dealing with the subject, think of it as a semi-extensive (though each vid is more than an hour in length primer to a larger complicated situation.

South Africa is a specific country not just a part of Africa, I still see this confusion a lot.



As a disclaimer:

Some things are slightly exaggerated and some are slightly under-emphasized, these are mostly people not from the area itself and there is always a degree of ignorance to subtleties.

These are typically extremely distressing subject matters so be prepared.

Not all SA blacks are the same just as not all SA whites are the same. There are actually maybe 3+ white tribes and 10+ black tribes.... all different between groups and within these groups there are even more differences.

SA blacks are generally different to blacks of other African countries.

There is a VAST difference between American and African blacks.

Just a quick update for informational purposes. Currently there is lazy rioting in multiple spots around the country, proper information is scarce. It seems like the same unrest that happens with every election season and the likelihood of it spilling over into something worse is low but tensions are still relatively high and tempers are short which could cause it's own problems.... But nothing of heavy disruption has happened so far, the internet still works and the power is still on etc. Most looting has happened to small foreign black store owners (usually spun as "xenophobia") and any liqueur shop in sight.

Anything could happen from this point on but most likely it's just politicking and most deaths have been either accidental (like non-police crowd control personnel being grabbed by the mob, I know two have died this way but there is probably more) or from hitmen. There are also reports of the taxi associations (think of them as old school gangster type unions, they also deal with with low level community problems like rape for example) have mobilized to take out the individual agitators though what exactly that means is unclear.

This could all have either mostly blown over by Monday or it will pick up renewed momentum.... rioters need rest too you know.

And if anyone wonders why I'm being so callous/calm/desensitized/whatever.... this is kind of normal to me by now, I actually am rather desensitized and it takes a lot to really shock me... especially if it happens at a distance which is of course a kind of abstraction.

I have just arrived back in the UK didn't know anything about it I hadn't heard anything about any unrest in the news.

Not surprising, even in local news it's downplayed. Best I can tell the worst happened in area's of least ANC control and in kwazulu-natal where the army had to be called in to pacify the region. Most of the unrest itself was linked to the election.



Most of it seems to have died down for now but there are still area's where people are.... touchy. There are some expectations that it will pick up again to the end of the year but for now it's wait-and-see. The country atm is a rather amorphous powder keg under increasing pressure and a currency more volatile than anyone cares to admit.... no one really knows what will hit the fan or when.

Even if only the heathens and apostates get hit there will still be massive colatarol damage.
