What is your favorite Christmas song and why?

For me, although I love Christmas songs, this is a no brainer. It has to be "Oh Holy Night". It brings me to tears and all I can do is worship The Lord Jesus!

My first choice is the same as the one you two picked-----

O Holy Night. Every time I hear it, I just want to worship and praise our Lord.

If I get a second choice, it would be Little Drummer Boy. Precious Christmas memories flood back when I hear it.

God Bless,

Deborah

I love "O Holy Night" but I also love "what Child is This", and "O Come, O Come Emmanuel".

All three speak to me not just in their words, but also in the melody they create. "O Holy Night" leave you in awe of God, "What Child is This" creates a wonder of who God is, and "O Come, O Come Emmanuel" show the heart of man crying out for a savior.

Singing Christmas songs reminds me of growing up in church choir. I always love to hear how the Hallelujah Chorus reverences God.

Some of my other favorites are

Go Tell it on the Mountain

Mary Did you Know?

Joy to the World

Still, Still, Still

O Holy Night

God Rest Ye Merry Gentlemen

Silent Night (A cappella)

I Wonder as I Wander

Ding Dong Merrily on High

I like just about any Christmas song that celebrates the real meaning behind Christmas.

O Come, O Come Emmanuel....love the old baroque sound of the music and the hope that the song brings

Little Drummer Boy by David Bowie & Bing Crosby...such a weird combination but it worked out surprisingly well

I love to hear David Phelps sing "Oh Holy Night" it is a beautiful, meaningful song.

I think "God Rest Ye Merry Gentlemen" ministers to me a lot throughout the year with it's comforting words of truth. We never hear all of the verses to most of these songs and I love to read them as they were deeply inspired.

God rest ye merry, gentlemen

Let nothing you dismay

Remember, Christ, our Savior

Was born on Christmas day

To save us all from Satan's power

When we were gone astray

O tidings of comfort and joy,

Comfort and joy

O tidings of comfort and joy

In Bethlehem, in Israel,

This blessed Babe was born

And laid within a manger

Upon this blessed morn

The which His Mother Mary

Did nothing take in scorn

O tidings of comfort and joy,

Comfort and joy

O tidings of comfort and joy

From God our Heavenly Father

A blessed Angel came;

And unto certain Shepherds

Brought tidings of the same:

How that in Bethlehem was born

The Son of God by Name.

O tidings of comfort and joy,

Comfort and joy

O tidings of comfort and joy

"Fear not then," said the Angel,

"Let nothing you affright,

This day is born a Savior

Of a pure Virgin bright,

To free all those who trust in Him

From Satan's power and might."

O tidings of comfort and joy,

Comfort and joy

O tidings of comfort and joy

The shepherds at those tidings

Rejoiced much in mind,

And left their flocks a-feeding

In tempest, storm and wind:

And went to Bethlehem straightway

The Son of God to find.

O tidings of comfort and joy,

Comfort and joy

O tidings of comfort and joy

And when they came to Bethlehem

Where our dear Savior lay,

They found Him in a manger,

Where oxen feed on hay;

His Mother Mary kneeling down,

Unto the Lord did pray.

O tidings of comfort and joy,

Comfort and joy

O tidings of comfort and joy

Now to the Lord sing praises,

All you within this place,

And with true love and brotherhood

Each other now embrace;

This holy tide of Christmas

All other doth deface.

O tidings of comfort and joy,

Comfort and joy

O tidings of comfort and joy

I am not really into Christmas music...and have not bought a Xmas CD in years until last week, I bought "A Christmas Cornucopia" by Annie Lennox...it has a nice version of "God Rest Ye Merry Gentlemen" .
