Greg Laurie’s “Jesus Revolution” Presents a False Gospel That Forgoes Real Repentance

Looks like another end times feel good “Christian” movie that leads imitation Christians to chant and sway like the Hindus rather than repent like those genuinely sorry for sin and who long for the righteousness of Jesus

What is truly sad—The many “Christians” gullibly buying in to the latest evolutionary fade—Yet they insist they are not evolutionists or atheists‼️‼️

Fair enough—they just act like evolutionists and atheists. You are what you read‼️‼️

Dangerous New Atheists

New Atheists hate God and religion and are going to shocking extremes to change American and Canadian family life and our total culture as they promote their “God doesn’t exist” heresy. Since they teach that the Bible is full of dangerous information, they consider it child abuse to expose children to biblical teaching. New Atheists are dangerous people not simply angry old men with stinking breath, sweaty hands, and showers of dandruff.

Perry Bulwer is an atheist lawyer who declared, “The educational rights of children are also undermined when they are intellectually abused with biblical literalism, anti-science creationism or denied the right to attend university.” He charges that “many fundamentalist and orthodox beliefs are highly detrimental to children’s minds.” (Religion and Child Abuse News website.) Note that he was not referring to physical abuse, but intellectual abuse because children are taught Bible truth and Creationism! But it gets worse, much worse.

The American Atheists’ website clearly proves my contention when the founder, Al Stefanelli, Georgia State Director, wrote of fundamentalist Christians, “They don’t respond to lawsuits, letters, amicus briefs or other grass-roots campaigns and they must, must, must be eradicated.” Eradicated means “to wipe out, destroy, tear out by the roots.” He continues to libel us when he lumps us with fanatics who fly planes into buildings and “people being burned for witchcraft.” Al is so uninformed that he doesn’t know that no “witch” was ever burned in America! Nevertheless, those of us who follow Christ (who commanded us to love our enemies) “must, must, must, be eradicated.” That is one atheist who is not only a jerk, but a dangerous jerk.

Another God hater wrote, “In short, children have a right not to have their minds addled by nonsense. And we as a society have a duty to protect them from it. So we should no more allow parents to teach their children to believe, for example, in the literal truth of the Bible, or that the planets rule their lives, than we should allow parents to knock their children’s teeth out or lock them in a dungeon.” (Nicholas Humphrey, “What Shall We Tell the Children?” Amnesty Lecture, Oxford, 21st February 1997.) Where is all the outrage from liberals because of this major attack upon freedom of religion and freedom of speech?

Daniel Dennett, one of the “Four Horsemen of New Atheism” wrote, “The message is clear: those who will not accommodate, who will not temper, who insist on keeping only the purest and wildest strain of their heritage alive, we will be obliged, reluctantly, to cage or disarm, and we will do our best to disable the memes they fight for.” (Daniel Dennett, Darwin’s Dangerous Idea, p. 515.) “Meme,” as a term, didn’t exist until Dawkins pulled it out of his confused brain and used it in a 1976 book to express the passing of cultural or religious teaching to others.

Richard Dawkins is the leader of the New Atheists and wrote, “We should work to free the children of the world from the religions which, with parental approval, damage minds too young to understand what is happening to them.” (Dawkins’ Religion’s Real Child Abuse, website.)

In The God Delusion, Richard Dawkins claims that teaching children about religion (specifically, the doctrine of Hell) is a form of child abuse that scars children for life. Accordingly, Dawkins states, “Priestly groping of child bodies is disgusting. But it may be less harmful in the long run than priestly subversion of child minds.” Clearly he is saying that Bible truth is dangerous, detrimental, and destructive to children, more so than depravity! It is my opinion that the rabid blather of New Atheists is destructive to everyone and is as deadly as a noxious fog.

Sam Harris, another of the “Four Horsemen of New Atheism” is not only a rabid hater of Christians and our God but he foams at the mouth more than most. That was proved when he declared, “The link between belief and behavior raises the stakes considerably. Some propositions are so dangerous that it may be ethical to kill people for believing them. This may seem an extraordinary claim, but it merely enunciates an ordinary fact about the world in which we live.” (The End of Faith, P. 52.) Note that Sam, like the others above, suggests that even believing Christian truths qualifies us to be killed! So it’s not only our actions but thoughts that must be punished!...

Greg Laurie’s “Jesus Revolution” Presents a False Gospel That Forgoes Real Repentance

The Dissenter

You’ve probably heard of the recently released Jesus Revolution movie that’s based on Greg Laurie’s book by the same name. The movie is being promoted by several high-profile Evangelicals including former Southern Baptist president, James Merritt and former U.S. Vice President, Mike Pence.

The movie is based on the life of Harvest Christian Fellowship pastor, Greg Laurie, and features several well-known actors including Kelsey Grammer, who plays Chuck Smith, Jonathan Roumie, who plays the part of Christian hippie, Lonnie Frisbee, and Joel Courtney, who plays Greg Laurie himself as they take part in the California “Jesus Movement” of the 60s.

But as with anything that claims to be Christian, it must be looked at with deep scrutiny to see if it actually is.

Greg Laurie has been a prominent figure in Christendom for quite some time. Many have touted him as being the next Billy Graham. In the likeness of Billy Graham’s crusades, Laurie has invested endless efforts in his Harvest Crusades since the early 1990s, reaching audiences in the hundreds of thousands at every event. Laurie’s popular style of watered-down preaching and making the adulterated Word of God more palatable to the world has helped his empire grow tremendously, and transform Laurie into a celebrity.

As with nearly all celebrity Christian luminaries, there comes a time when the message they deliver has become so devoid of any convicting biblical substance that nearly anyone, whether they profess Christ or not, will be lured in by their seductive charisma. Their following essentially becomes a cult of personality, and their notoriety gains them indiscriminate immunity from nearly all criticism.

Statistics from Greg Laurie’s crusades show that among the thousands of people who touted their “decision” for Jesus at these gatherings, only 3 to 6 percent of them show any fruits of salvation one year later. Why could this be? Phil Johnson from Grace to You says that Greg Laurie’s current associations are representative of his theological drift, and that his “doctrinal boundaries are so hazy that there’s hardly any variety of popular religion or spiritual chicanery that he won’t align himself with, as long as it calls itself ‘Christian,’ and gains a large following.”

And the same is absolutely true of Laurie’s movie, Jesus Revolution. First off, the movie presents a false gospel. The gospel, that Christ, the son of God, who is fully God, came to earth in the likeness of man, lived the perfect life that God requires of man, yet, stood in our place on the cross bearing the punishment of God for us, died, was buried, and rose again on the third day and ascended into Heaven so that those of us who would repent and believe in Him would have eternal life. During Jesus’ ministry on earth, he never wavered on the message of repentance. His first words during his ministry were “repent, for the Kingdom of God is at hand” (Matthew 3:15). And Jesus echoes his call to repentance all throughout, including twice in Luke 13:3-5.

There is no shortage of the call to repent in the New Testament so it cannot be a doctrine that is easily dismissed or overlooked. Yet, the entire theme of the false gospel presented in Jesus Revolution is devoid of any real call to true repentance. In fact, it’s an “inclusive” gospel that presents the bride of Christ as being filled with those who lack true repentance. For them, repentance is merely an emotion, a feeling, and the word itself a meaningless platitude, and does not involve becoming a new creation.

Other prominent characters in the movie include Chuck Smith, who is played by Kelsey Grammer. Chuck Smith was a charismatic false prophet who preached the funeral of Christian Hippie, Lonnie Frisbee (who is credited with starting the Jesus Movement) saying that Frisbee was a “Samson figure” who was powerfully anointed by God. Yet, Lonnie Frisbee was a practicing homosexual who eventually died of AIDS after his lifestyle caught up with him. Yet, Smith, in real life, preached to him right into Heaven at his funeral.

It should not be surprising that former Southern Baptist Convention president, James Merritt, who has an openly homosexual son who preaches at a progressive church in NYC whom he has praised as “faithful”, is a fan of this movie.

How to become a fool (stupid person) according to Proverbs
Posted : 18 May, 2023 07:13 PM

Becoming a fool is easy, just ignore God and never thank him. There’s lots of practicing fools around who wouldn’t have it any other way. Not me saying—l didn’t write Proverbs.

But one great thing though. God always welcomes and enlightens a fool who repents

True biblical unity versus false unbiblical unity according to scripture
Posted : 18 May, 2023 06:37 AM

The question is:

WHY isn’t there unity⁉️

By way of simple observation, here’s some ideas that prevent unity.

1. No one can have biblical unity without love for God and love of truth

2. Sin, rebellion and unbelief destroy biblical unity. Unity cannot coexist in a toxic environment characterized by sins like jealously and envy. (Read about Paul’s missionary experiences with jealous people).

3. Willful ignorance—stupid people will resist biblical unity (check out the many biblical examples especially Proverbs warnings against being willfully stupid)

4. Refusal to test one’s understanding or the refusal to test the biblical understanding of a teacher. (See Berean example)
