Here is a weird question for all of you cat lovers.

The Bible states that we are to not be drunk with wine, but to be sober. Most Christians also feel that applies to mood or mind altering substances. Catnip is a mood altering substance for cats.

With that in mind, do you give your cat catnip? Would you allow your cat a pleasure you cannot have? Is this right or wrong?

Wow - what a puuuurrrrrrfect question to ask!

You are just the cat's meow!

To answer your question -- yes. I have and will give catnip to a cat. I don't have a problem with it.

yes I've given my cats catnip... however, very few of them really care. I've two that really react to it. I use it more as a way to attract them to new toys or new areas. The outside cats I use to attract them to the kennel for protection against the weather and the inside cats I use it to attract them to a new scratching post.

Though... the question remains... do you feel that all mood altering medications are unbiblical? For example... a person has a physical deficiency in one of the brain's neurotransmitters which causes major depression. The take a drug that alters their mood by increasing the production of the neurotransmitter they were previously lacking? What about hormonal treatments? Being deficient in thyroid stimulating hormone can also cause depression among other issues... so artificial thyroid hormone can be considered a mood altering drug since the thyroid hormone affects all functions of the body either directly or indirectly.

While I do believe that we are an over-medicated culture... I do feel that there are some real and true cases which require medication to correct a disease process and in those cases I feel no qualms about the use of such drugs. However, when used recreationally then no... that is wrong.

Give him a squeaky mouse! Ours does not get tired of "killing" it, because it is just to "lively". She gets lots of exercise and energy from playing with the "mouse".

I don't own a cat but I wouldn't give my dog dognip. He's fine being himself. Do they even make anything equivalent to catnip for other pets?

Lol, Elisa. Yeah, Tuna the greatest invention according to Cats.

As for catnip. Yep, they like catnip. And they become wild anyway, without catnip.

Hmmm....is this a thinly disguised analogy for free will and predestination?

Cat = Eve

Catnip = Tree of knowledge of good and evil

:ROFL:
