Yours and Mine, or Ours?

Here's a question for both girls and guys:

In a Christian marriage, how should finances be handled? Should each person maintain completely separate accounts, or should the couple combine their accounts?

How would expenses be split if each had his/her own account? Who pays for what?

Why did you choose the answer you did?

(Disclaimer: I have an opinion on this, but I don't know that there is one right or wrong answer...I'm just trying to get an idea of how other people see it.)

bc, I believe that our incomes have been provided by God to use wisely in taking care of our needs and our wants in marriage.

And I feel it is part of that wisdom to earmark a portion of our joint incomes, after paying our bills, living expenses etc., as "his" and "hers" to use for whatever each one decides is the best use of it for their hearts as a blessing from God.

Spiritually and Biblically speaking they should be joint. But realize the hugh difficulties when a spender marries a saver or a one who pays cash marries one who foe relies on credit cards. Throw in the fact that todays society doesn't recognize a head of household and you have a disaster.

It is absolutely appalling to see how carnality has crept into Christianity.

I would say whoever is better at handling it should handle it...and that it should be a joint effort...but both parties should be involved in what is done with it, and how it is handled...after prayer....I say this because this is just good Team skills for everything...someone must Lead and someone must follow/serve/help...

I think everything should be joint with a portion going to each to do with as they see fit without having to explain. If he wanted to save for new golf clubs or something. I do not see how the two can be one flesh with everybodys money seperate. It is no longer my money and his money but our money

I think it should be joint. It's so much easier to handle if you just settle upon that and then live that way.

Ours

1 person will be better out of the 2 for handling finances.

I am a good budget-er and pretty good saver as well...but if he wants to handle the $$ I'm ok with that.

I'm just kinda wondering how that would effect my frequent shopping :goofball:

kidding, it's not that often....well, it depends on what you consider "often"..hehe
