Posted : 9 Jan, 2011 08:26 AM My dad is the only person that has ever done that for me, and I really like that about him! He does so much for me whenever I am at home - most of it usually involves cooking me food so I can be lazy! It is fun to be waited on hand and foot, but after awhile I start to feel bad about it like I should also be serving them. It seems kind of selfish to only be served but to never serve. Post Reply

Posted : 9 Jan, 2011 08:38 AM Waiting on me hand and foot to me translates (in my lexicon) to spoiling me rotten. He would start the car and clean the windshield on a snowy morning so it would be ready for me to leave come time. He would open the door for me, car, house, gate, whatever. The car would be kept filled up, the oil changed, and tags, inspection stickers up to date. He would also keep it clean inside and out. I would also feel completely spoiled if when I drove up with groceries, he came out and helped unload, or even carried my plethora of school bags in at the end of the day. Furthermore, he would take over the handy man jobs that vex me to no end. Now THAT would be love. Post Reply

If some one is doing it out of love and appreciation then it can be fantastic! When some one is just being lazy and selfish and demanding then there is no pleasure in doing it. As a single mother I have always worked hard to provide and take care of my children. Now that my children are getting older it is nice to let them pamper me a bit. Some times they will make me food or coffee/tea. The same goes for a dating or marriage. It can feel wonderful to do some thing to make your partner feel special as long as they are not taking advantage and appreciating your actions. Post Reply

I have always been the one doing it to others like my dad, my kids, whoever comes over and I even do it at work. It just comes naturally for me to want to serve people. I raised my kids alone and that may be the reason but I'm always the last to sit down at dinner cuz of serving and the first to finish so I can clean up quickly and not have to do it later when I cant get back up, lol. Being treated like a queen is something I have been desiring lately, I'm thinking it will be a little uncomfortable to let someone wait on me but like 2spar said in the "guy" section, I'm cautious about the pride/independance issues and I dont want to be, so I will let him when the time comes. Posted : 9 Jan, 2011 07:15 PM Thanks for all of your replies ... yes, this "guilty pleasure" should be a mutual expression of love shared in every relationship, never a selfish, "one-sided" expectation from either the man or the woman (or your children either, if you have children, when they are old enough to be thoughtful and help you out doing the things they can do for themselves then). And I would want him to TELL me that he wanted to wait on me, so that I didn't feel guilty about it. And I would want to wait on my man hand and foot on HIS special days and sick days, too. :glow: In day-to-day life, though, I would want to equally serve and be served. Post Reply
