there are some verses in the Bible that may shock a lot of Christians regarding the proper use of alcohol
โGive strong drink to him who is perishing, and wine to him whose life is bitter, 7 Let him drink and forget his poverty, and remember his trouble no moreโ Prov. 31:6-7
โHe causes the grass to grow for the cattle, and vegetation for the labor of man, so that he may bring forth food from the earth, 15 And wine which makes manโs heart glad, so that he may make his face glisten with oil, and food which sustains manโs heart,โ Psalm 104:14-15
We can see that there is a proper use of alcohol. We could categorize this use as medicinal. The ancients did not have the medicines like we have today. So, alcohol was used as a kind of curative. Consider this verseโฆ
โNo longer drink water exclusively, but use a little wine for the sake of your stomach and your frequent ailmentsโ 1 Tim. 5:23
Jesus drank
Jesus is our example of holiness, but some may be surprised to find there are Scriptures which would strongly imply that Jesus hung out with people who consumed alcohol and even consumed it himself. Consider this verse:
โThe Son of Man came eating and drinking, and they say, โBehold, a gluttonous man and a drunkard, a friend of tax-gatherers and sinners!โ Yet wisdom is vindicated by her deedsโ Matt. 11:19
Now, this verse does not explicitly state that Jesus consumed alcohol. But Jesus does say that he came eating and drinking and that they accused him of being a drunkard. It seems to be the most natural understanding to say that Jesus, according to his own words, was hanging out with those people who were looked down upon by the religious elite โ and they drank alcohol. We know that Jesus went to heal the sick, not the well Matt. 9:12 so he was with those who needed him, and in so doing he ate and drank with them.
What does this mean for Christians? Iโm forced to conclude it means that Christians, like Jesus, should be involved in the world, involved with those who โneed healing,โ and like Jesus should be able to be accused of being someone who would eat and drink with unbelievers (yet without sin). Am I advocating having a โletโs partyโ mentality by going out and carousing with the lost? Not at all. The Scriptures tell us we are to avoid sin. We are not to participate in sinful behavior. However, as Jesus has said, it is not the healthy who need to be healed. It is the sick who need him. We need to carry the message of Christ to those who are lost. This is what Jesus did, and he was accused of being a drunkard for it
Drinking alcohol is not an automatic sin. Instead, it is to be used wisely, with consideration of others (so as not to cause them to stumble), and without intoxication, lest we injure ourselves and others
You are a false teacher because you teach false teachings.
Here are just some of the false things you teach.
1. Christians can lose their salvation๐ณ
2. You teach modern miracles but neither you ๐๐๐nor any false teacher that believes the same have shown a SINGLE modern day miracle ๐๐like the miracles that Jesus did๐. ๐
3. You believe God speaks to people today like he did to the Prophets and the Apostles. This is rank heresy and worse yet, you are ๐๐adding to the Words of God๐๐โผ๏ธโผ๏ธ๐
4. You and the false teachers you like canโt speak in tongues (real languages) like what took place in the early church, so your false teachers speak in gibberish (a pagan imitation of tongues)โผ๏ธโผ๏ธMANY false religions (Muslims, Hindus, Mormons and others speak the same kind of exstactic nonsensical gibberishโผ๏ธโผ๏ธโผ๏ธ
You are a false teacher and the sooner you admit it the better youโll become๐
For John the Baptist came neither eating bread nor drinking wine, and you say, โHe has a demon.โ The Son of Man came eating and drinking, and you say, โHere is a glutton and a drunkard, a friend of tax collectors and sinners.โ But wisdom is proved right by all her children.โ (Luke 7:33-35 as well as Matthew 11:18-20)
Stop drinking only water, and use a little wine because of your stomach and your frequent illnesses. (1 Timothy 5:23)
Use the silver to buy whatever you like: cattle, sheep, wine or other fermented drink, or anything you wish. Then you and your household shall eat there in the presence of the Lord your God and rejoice. (Deuteronomy 14:26)
I choose not to drink. Nothing wrong with drinking in moderation. Pick and choose Bible verses. If one has a word from THE LORD that they are not to drink fermented drink, then that person should not drink fermented drink. In moderation, it is okay for everyone else. I, myself, prefer water. Water is my favorite drink. No contest! I like to drink purified water and have been buying it for years. Nothing else equals a good bottle of water.
Habakkuk 2:15 is another good reason to drink.
โWoe to him who gives drink to his neighbors, pouring it from the wineskin till they are drunk, so that he can gaze on their naked bodies!" (Habakkuk 2:15)
Remember Lot? (Genesis 19:36) He impregnated both his daughters. Both of Lot's daughters got their dad drunk, so that their dad would lay with them. He did not know what he was doing?
Aw the benefits of drinking!
The Bible does say that no drunkard shall go to heaven. (1 Corinthians 6:10)
Noah got drunk once. That does not make him a drunkard. (Genesis 9:20-23)
What a happy tale! Anyway, the thing is to drink in moderation.
Woe to those who rise early in the morning to run after their drinks, who stay up late at night till they are inflamed with wine. (Isaiah 5:11)
Limit how much you consume.
Woe to those who are heroes at drinking wine and champions at mixing drinks. (Isaiah 5:22)
In the Old Testament, some guys were honored because they never drank just because their father told them not to drink. So, God honored them for honoring their dad, because God wants us to honor him.
