I know that the Bible says in Matthew 19:9 that a person can divorce their spouse if their spouse cheats on them I also know that in Matthew 5:27-30 Jesus teaches that if a man lusts after a woman then he has committed adultery with her in his heart and that he is at risk of hell fire.
God tells us that if our spouse commits the sin of lust then we can divorce them?
I learned from a Bible professor called Tim Mackie in his teachings on the book of Matthew that to lust after someone means to look at them for an extended period of time wanting this person and somehow giving your own mind release by this sin of lust. Lust is also a sin that can bring havoc to many areas of a persons life I have attended Churches where men have hit on me in front of their wives or made their wives. I have also seen cases where men made their wives attend the gym to lose weight after having given birth etc these behaviours are demonic and are the sin of lust.
I think that if a person is married to a person who never repents or tries to get delivered and they have the sin of lust then I believe that its Gods will to divorce this person to save both your soul and theirs.
perhaps we can draw from an example using some fictitious characters . Ian and Fiona are two happily married born again Christians for 20 years . Fiona has started to take a liking to one too many biscuits , Ian is getting disenchanted with her weight gain and is starting to get a case of the wandering eye fact so much so that it's wrecking their marriage
first thing is first we know that God hates divorce

Secondly if ian will cooperate pastoral counseling it's a very good idea @ this point

Definitely discernment and wisdom is needed before the prior tasks are even an option

But should Ian persist in his adulterous lusting then the nuclear option of divorce could be entertained so that he doesn't become a stumbling block to Fiona

Fiona wouldn't be in danger of losing her soul if she decided to divorce him , if Ian continues even after the divorce with his sin then what happened to the guy in 1st Corinthians 5 verses 1 to 5 could happen to him as well

All of us have been unfaithful. So Jesus has cause to give us all a certificate of divorce.
In the Bible, Michal, David's wife had two husbands, but David did not divorce her even though she married a second man. He took her back and did not divorce her.
David committed adultery himself. None of his wives divorced him. His son Absalom slept with 10 of his dad's wives for all of Israel to see. David did not divorce any of the wives his son defiled. But yes Jesus should divorce us for a mere thought.
Plainly the Bible says that anyone who marries a divorced woman commits adultery, and if a man divorces a faithful wife, he causes his faithful wife to commit adultery through causing her to go to someone else.
But take heart, Jesus did not come to condemn the world, but to save it.

The divorcee commits adultery when she marries another. The scripture is clear on this. And if a man divorces his faithful wife, than marries another, he also commits adultery. But you will be surprised what the scriptures say when you dig down deep. If Christ Jesus could only have one, would he pick you? Fact is, Christ has many and any good Christian will want Christ to have more. It would be selfish of a Christian to want to be Christ's only one. We were made for Christ. Similarily, neither was man created for woman, but woman for man. (1 Corinthians 11:9) But people forget that and a whole lot. People forget that ONE man had 12 sons through 4 women. Thus, the 12 tribes of Israel, the 12 disciples, the 12 apostles, the 12 foundations of heaven, the 12 gates of heaven, and the 12 thrones with Christ -- ALL BECAUSE ONE MAN had 12 sons through 4 women. These are the people of God. You want to be grafted into this family. People are free with divorce. God hates divorce. But abortion is even worse.
Praise God Joni Lamb of DayStar did not divorce her tele-evangelist husband when he committed adultery. Nor did Jimmy Swaggart's wife divorce him for his indiscretions. They kept the ministries going to the glory of God. The men confessed their misdeeds publicly and they kept their ministries going. That is more Christian.
🤔🤔 So if Ian's adultery / fornication escalates into him having numerous affairs , wrecking their home being a poor role model to their children , which becomes apparent to his church as well as the deacons and the pastor and of course causes many around him including Fiona to stumble ......... There is no grounds for divorce as well as excommunication ❓❓
Yes there is as you said this is a process that is done with prayer love and patience where the wife and pastor are helping a sinner like Ian to change.
If people lose their partner that can be the thing that may lead them to change who knows Ian and his cookie loving partner may meet again in this life and remarry if not in the next.
