“Ah, Robbie, ye asked them for bread and they hae gi’en ye a stane.”

At least in Robert's case, the stone wasn't thrown at him.

May the Lord have mercy on the stone throwers, and may His grace be ever present to all who are in need of it.

Been awhile and no discussion on why you curiously quoted Robert Burn’s mother. Atheist Mark Twain also quoted Robert Burn’s mother.

OO7 speaking curiously, I’m curious if you checked the context of the mother’s words?

I can help. A lot of times people arbitrarily raise issues or remarks on discussion forums but for whatever reason they are either unwilling to discuss the issues they’ve introduced or can’t defend them. Hope you’re not one of them. Perhaps you’ve just moved on to better things.😇

Let’s discuss Robert Burns.

Who was he? Why was he famous? What did he believe? And, what about his mother?

Ok, you’re turn—-

Or, anyone wishing to volunteer as a proxy for O07

“Which of you, if your son asks for bread, will give him a stone?" (Matthew 7:9)

Matthew 7:8-12 says

8 For everyone who asks receives; the one who seeks finds; and to the one who knocks, the door will be opened.

9 “Which of you, if your son asks for bread, will give him a stone? 10 Or if he asks for a fish, will give him a snake? 11 If you, then, though you are evil, know how to give good gifts to your children, how much more will your Father in heaven give good gifts to those who ask him! 12 So in everything, do to others what you would have them do to you, for this sums up the Law and the Prophets.

Similarly, Luke 11:9-14,

9 “So I say to you: Ask and it will be given to you; seek and you will find; knock and the door will be opened to you. 10 For everyone who asks receives; the one who seeks finds; and to the one who knocks, the door will be opened.

11 “Which of you fathers, if your son asks for[a] a fish, will give him a snake instead? 12 Or if he asks for an egg, will give him a scorpion? 13 If you then, though you are evil, know how to give good gifts to your children, how much more will your Father in heaven give the Holy Spirit to those who ask him!”

When they kept on questioning him, he straightened up and said to them, “Let any one of you who is without sin be the first to throw a stone at her.” (John 8:7)

But this post goes deeper than that.

One may think of "Sympathy for the Devil" - a Rolling Stones song.

Here men are treated poorly, and the Feminist Movement reigns, and none follow the Bible. So, it is one slant and another. Everyone comes from a different slant. The main poster here is always posting against men. The men she praises are the men who say nothing from scripture on the subjects that offend her. In so far as women participating on these forums, the greater participation is from old, divorced women who have their own slant on things which is often not the Bible, but one hopes for the gospel and for a good read and a good conversation, and that there not be condemnation. However, anyone that marries a divorced woman commits adultery [New Testament teaching and words of Jesus] and Jesus speaks against divorce, and indeed the Bible says that God hates divorce. But we get all kinds of teachings here that are not scripture and are not Jesus. So, more here is attacks against men. They are more often from divorced women that feel attacked by the typing of scripture. There is no end to these exchanges.

A lot of bread and stone Bible verses.

Jesus was asked, "If you are the Son of God, turn these stones into bread."

Still no O07‼️

Ok, I’ll start with a little of Robert Burn’s story. He was a Socialist Liberal. He hated organized religion. He even hated the teaching of orthodox Christianity‼️‼️

Those are just starter reasons for asking why a Christian person (or one claiming to be a Christian) would quote a celebrity who has demonstrated a lack of regard for theological authority⁉️Especially as if the quote implies the Lord’s mercies‼️

When I use the term “orthodox”, I’m not referring to the Eastern Orthodox tradition or to any other particular denominational tradition

The canonized Bible is considered "Orthodox".
