Surely how can we ask God to enable us love others while we are not able to love ourselves. We are God's work created in Christ Jesus. We were fearfully and wonderfully made. This is true when the definition is Biblical set. We all seek our own good and happiness. Some seek it through suicide, because they want out of their live situation. Some seek it with alcohol and others with drugs, so seek it serving others. Today, the world pushes self-love and self-esteem. The question comes up, "What is it that I am valuing to make me feel worthy, loved, happy?" If you base your self worth on your looks, you will strive for outer beauty that will only cause heartache as you age. If you base it upon kindness, you will be accomplished when you fulfill that. If you place your worth, as the blood of Jesus Christ, you will experience a relationship free from the entanglements of worrying about marital status, beautiful appearance, or wealth. What is your worth? What are you valuing that causes you to feel that you have arrived and are worthy of love? Upon what are you focusing? Post Reply

You must mean a great deal brother. I suppose the concern would be loving oneself at the expense of others or ostentatious displays of vanity. Prayer and meditation on scripture will illuminate exactly where the fulcrum of self-appreciation and vanity is. Post Reply
