Judge not

Very good question DivaJ, ultimately only God can judge a person's inner motives because only he knows the heart. And only God is qualified to judge people on judgment day. In John 6:24, Jesus rebuked a crowd for making wrong judgements concerning him. He said, "Stop making judgements by mere appearances, and make a right judgement." Judgements people make should be right judgements, not sinful judgements forbidden in scripture. One day believers will judge angels, said Paul the apostle. But in the mean time, Paul goes on, the church has a God ordained duty to judge disputes amoung Christians and to judge false teaching and false teachers.

Excellent Bushfire! Distinction between forbidden judgments that are sinful and those necessary to determine right from wrong, holy and unholy and the wisdon to help correct and encourage in sound doctrine

Biblical Flat Earth

All humor aside, yes, I've checked out flat earth theory on the internet. As for "biblical" flat earth, I've read the Bible through several times and find nothing that even hints it. However, some atheist sites quote scripture that they insist proves the Bible teaches flat earth and I found this of particular interest--flat earthers agree with atheists. But there's no historical precedent indicating these verses ever referred to flat earth geology. So, the false assumption must be artificially **read** into these verses. By reading into the text, atheists and flat earthers commit the fallacy of eisegesis (reading into text). You said you don't want to debate or defend flat earthism and it seems your fellow devotees on the internet can't debate or defend it either, so you're not alone. It would seem that the flat earth belief is something one chooses to believe despite evidence to the contrary. As for "biblical" flat earth belief, in all respect, perhaps it is non-existent like biblical bhuddism

I should also mention another problem with the "do not judge" or "judge not" error. For example, when a person wags their finger at another while sternly warning them, "do not judge", they commit a contradictory self-refuting fallacy. This is because accusing someone of judging **is** an act of judgement!

Apparently one of the most oft repeated partial quotes in the Bible comes from the verse containing the popular phrase, "...do not judge...". Matt 7:1. Surprisingly people without faith and even more surprisingly those of faith are quite eager to quote this three word phrase rather than give account for ongoing sin or false belief in their lives. But after reading this verse in context, can anyone see the error of quoting this phrase in defense of a personal sin or false belief? There's a less popular phrase also containing the words of Jesus that goes kinda like this: "...stop making wrong judgments and make right judgments..." --John 7:24. If supposedly, Jesus is against all judging then why, in an adjacent passage, does he say we should judge? It seems pretty clear from these passages, Jesus is against making certain kinds of wrong judgments, not against making right judgements!

The Conscience or the emotions !!!

Don't want to get too far off topic, but In the early days of Revelation, when God's Word, the Old and New Testaments were being written, God confirmed his Written and Verbal Revelation by giving his prophets the power to work mighty miracles and to have dreams that predicted furture events. Some of these predictions were short range and easily fulfilled. These fulfilled predictions clearly afforded the prophet credibility and helped to confirm the proclamation of other long range prophecy. NO OTHER religion could do or had ever done ANY of these things! No other other person ever healed 100% of the people coming to him for healing EXCEPT Jesus and those he temporarily empowered. Of course, there have been many imitations throughout history. These are the false prophets easily fooling the emotionally gullible. False teachers today are likewise characterized by their inability to heal all diseases and all infirmities instantaneously and completely. So they produce various false miracles like psychosomatic healings. They parade these out as miraculous. Yet their miracles are clearly false and their dreams amount to hit and miss false predictions which hardly come true or at best partially true!! For living examples, look how "Christians" imitate the world of psychics and voodoo magicians, just watch TBN and CBN!

For sure. The modern mind, that follows God, has been replaced by the flittering emotions. "Christians" are now claiming to "experience God" through their emotions, feelings, dreams, meditatative prayers and the voices they hear. They believe the Holy Spirit interacts with them this way. Little do they realize, these methods are common with and promoted by psychics, cults, witch doctor practitioners, voodoo magicians, sorcerers, shamanism and false Christianity. None of these even proximate communing with the Holy Spirit. The Bible makes it clear--being filled with the Holy Spirit is to be filled with God's Written Word. **This** is how the Holy Spirit "speaks". If anyone wants to hear God speak--read His Written Word, Genesis to Revelation!
