Confused about 1 Corinthians 1:21-24

Greeks required "wisdom" in the form human philosophy. Human "wisdom" does not condemn all men as unholy. Human "wisdom" teaches that there is "goodness" in mankind. But God's Revelation says all men are evil and subject to judgement. In fact, all other religions, including false forms of Christianity and Judaism, teach that mankind is not entirely wicked or incapable of producing good works acceptable to God. But the Bible says: "...there is NONE who does what is good, not even one..."! Obviously human pride resists such biblical notions (the wisdom of God) as foolishness. Some of the Jews in Jesus day, required a "sign". But somehow, they managed to overlook the signs that proved that Jesus was their long awaited Messiah. They overlooked all the OT prophecies Jesus fulfilled and they overlooked all miracles he performed. The Bible says they missed these signs because they wanted to defend their own "righteousness". It seems people miss the truth of God because they choose not to believe what God says about their sinful condition and that they need a Savior. As a consequence, people miss salvation. God has provided this salvation through the life and death of his Son but people miss this gift for the love of sin. Very sad

What does it really mean to be saved?

I wanted to share because of the prevailing confusion about what it means to be saved from hell (from God's eternal wrath) and how one becomes saved in the first place.

WHERE IS THE CHRIST IN CHRISTIANS?
Posted : 3 Mar, 2018 07:57 PM

Great message!! Jesus said: "...not everyone who says to me Lord Lord will enter the kingdom of heaven, only he who does the will of my father...". Many will even claim certian good works. They will say we performed miracles in Jesus name and all kinds of other good things, but Jesus says he will say to those people on judgement day: "..depart from you who work iniquity...". Goes to show we cannot call on the Lord in a frivolous carefree fashion and go on living in sin the same o'way. We can't do occasional good works, in a false effort, to cover up our bad works either. Remember the guy who delighted in giving money to the poor? He made sure everybody saw him do it too. Jesus said this man has already has received his reward--the praise of men. People who think they can do good works for the purpose of self glory, commit a grievous sin. Instead of eternal reward from God, they will receive only the soon forgotten glory of people

BIBLICAL CREATION TRUTH

SILVER says:

Science also points to a much older universe.

LITTLEDAVID responds:

There's no "science pointing to a much older universe". However, establishment scientists, who embrace cosmic evolution and Big Bang cosmology also embrace the philosophy of Uniformitarianism. Uniformitarianism points to an older universe but science does not. Uniformitarianism is a philosophy, it is NOT a science!! By assuming "science" points to an older universe, Silver confuses philosophy for science. At this point, he would do well to remember, everything a scientist says, is not automatically and necessarily scientific fact. Sometimes scientists aggregate or blend both scientific and philosophic conjectures

Excellent post!! Your message confronts humanistic liberalism that grands people the liberty to do as they please contrary to the will of God. John MacArthur preaches obedience is the loving response of those saved by grace to the God who forgave them. Loving Obedience is a proof of genuine love for God and its an evidence that one has truly been saved. Sadly many church leaders don't see it that way and Mr MacArthur suffered a great deal of undeserved ridicule. Interestingly, Charles Spurgeon suffered the same fate after he began preaching against the "downgrade". The downgrade was a term Spurgeon applied to the prevailing attitudes of disobedience and lovelessness for God he observed that taking place in the lives of Christians all around him.
