I need your feedback. Is mt picture inapropriate for this site?
Posted : 5 Mar, 2009 06:06 AM

I had just bought a new camera phone and wanted to try it out.....so I snapped a pic off my guest bathroon mirror.

I wasn't even thinking about what I was wearing. I havn't gotten one negative comment from younger men....but, a couple older men have written to me saying that I am showing to much cleavage.

I live in Florida and i guess we wear less clothing here most of the year. The top I had on is'nt one that I would wear to church......but, I wouldn't wear a bathing suit either.....that's for the beach or at home.

So i need some feedback.....do you think that it is wrong for me to wear a top like this at anytime....or just because it is my profile pic? Resectfully, Colleen

Hey Coleen,

Listen sister-far be it from me to judge not because the good book tells us not to but because I was saved in jail for attmepted murder in the first degree-so you can see-I can't judege-but regarding your rpicture? Girl it has too much cleavege for a Christian site-if you consider yourself a REAL Christian-you would never allow yourself to be a tool that the ememy could use-how are you doing that? Let's be real here, you know that there are men that struggle with sexual immorality-you don't want to be the door to them slipping up-or do you?

PS I just moved here from Miami so I feel you on the 'heat' but if nothing else be real to yourself- you know perfectly well what you're doing, we are after all women-but in the end-it's your call-good luck with that...

Another opinion for you, I am a meth addict/alcoholic/porn addict, and since I was saved and He delivered me form those things (though I struggle with the porn more than the others thanks to modern attitudes concerning modesty) I find myself more attracted to a woman who dresses modestly. For one thing I can have a conversation with her without struggling to keep from looking, don't get me wrong I will look men are like that, its where it goes in my mind after the initial "wow good looking woman". Dressed like that it would be more of a struggle to think of you as a woman instead of an object of lust. Women don't seem to understand the power they have over men with their bodies. We are visual creatures, that doesn't just mean that we react more to what we see, what we see is burned on our minds. And those images pop up unbidden, usually when we're praying or something else as far from where they should be as you can get, and we have to fight to make them go away. The tighter the clothes or more skin showing, generally around the torso area, the worse it is. You have a lot of power over men you don't even know just by what you wear, and you aren't even aware of it, most women aren't. As far as the men in swimsuits showing off what they've got, I think that's wrong of them too, I also think it has a different effect on women.

colleen...

take to heart what these men are saying...it is not that it is not attractive but they struggle to walk through the world and keep their minds pure... i struggle myself..

your flesh will get you tied up with the wrong man very easily..

did an experiement recently and posted a similar pic of myself on a site and had hundreds of responses in a couple of days...

obviously we all want someone who is attracted to us physically but to be equally yoked is big and a man that is trying to resist while he is single is surely a man that will continue while he is married..

heard james robinson says something wonderful and although it was for men i pray it myself...

Lord please let me appreciate the beauty in your creation of men/women but keep me from lusting after it...

I guess on a Christian site it is not appropriate. I probably would not notice in person because you would not be leaning over.

Yes, most "religious" people would focus on this rather than the inside of you (or them for that matter) but I am sure it is not what "Jesus would do."

I find I wear shirts like that sometimes just to be comfortable or maybe to illicit a reaction. God has taught me modesty. When I was young I was very modest. Then, after inner healing by God, went through an immodest stage mostly just because I could...

God is faithful to bring you back to balance.

God is love.

Hi,

In Responce to your question ..YES,

I think the picture is very much inapropiate as do all the others who have given thier honest mind to give you an answer that you ask for ..is it the answer you seek ? It appears it is not . Do we always get the answer we want ..no we don't,.. but if you look long enough and ask enough people you will get someone to finally agree with you.

I see no one basing you or disrespecting you in thier answers ..only truth in love and kindness right out of the sctiptures ..

In responce to what do I think Jesus said or did with those woman ..I think He would have possible thrown somthing over thier flesh and said..Go and Sin No more...!!!

For me,

I know the life I use to live and it can not hold a candel to the one He has given me now ..honor and respect.

As for the guys on here that you speak of that try to entice woman with thier bodies, cars and homes.

That was not a part of your question of how others dress nor should it be part of your defense to our telling you the scriptures view of your question.

that "I need your feedback. Is MY picture inapropriate for this sight"

We opened ourselfs up just as you do to give an answer so you should not bash people for the answers you get ..

Reguarding those guys you speak of

All they have and show ..it's all here today and gone tomorrow ..the Bilbe tells us to set our affections on the things above not on the things of this earth.

I would ask you to do the same ..set your affections on things above ..it is hard to put the flesh aside ..if we all want to honor and serve Him ..must do just that ..put the flesh aside ...I still struggle in many areas of my life, with putting the flest aside, and I will surly not cast the first stone sota speak ..but know He is good and faithful and just to forgive us of our sins ..does that give us a get out of jail card to go freely and sin...no it does not. The more we love him the more we will try to please Him ..

Any time you would like to talk woman to woman of the thing of our lord, or in fact even pray ..please feel free to get in contact with me .. Oh by the way, thank you for asking us,

I know we all are blessed and pleased to be guiding you to right back to the feet of Jesus .

In His love, Joann

Man looks at the outward appearance and God looks at the heart. If you are willing to flaunt yourself then I would have to say that you are not living for God. Living for God mean obedience to his commands. Modesty is something that all Christians, men and women need to practice. If you are willing to show your stuff, then you will only attract those who will take advantage of your stuff. If you want to be respected, then you need to act respectfully.

Do you think that your dress, your profile picture is pleasing to God? If you were my daughter I would tell you to cover it up. I have a 20 year old daughter and I have told her to cover it up. Sometimes she listens sometimes she doesn't but she is not walking with the Lord right now either. If you claim to be, then you should live to want to please God, not yourself. Die to self, live for the Lord.

Sometimes this lesson only comes from experience and age. Sometimes it never comes. It is a choice, just like everything else in life.

If you sent me a message I would look at this picture and say to myself.."I'll pass on this one". Same if I saw you on the street. Regardless of this site or any other. Your morals and values are obviousy in the wrong place. It obviates you are a tease and a player. Your easy and feel you need to use your body to attract...or enjoy doing that with men. That is a foundational behavior of a cheater and a flirt. I have been with one cheater already. I walk in to another one as obvious as you? Shame on me. N0 thank you maam

I just saw this post.

To Colleen:

I read some of the posts and can see why you may have had less than a positive reaction.

That does not mean that all of the posts cautioning you are without value. In less than perfect ways in some cases and in pretty good ways in other cases, love was the overiding motive.

To all:

Whoever questioned the "consistency" of women that may be replying- regarding whatthey may be wearing when they are at the beach; that is a good point. A true Chrsitian witness would mean we would all dress modestly at all times. Yes men and women, even at the beach:applause:.

Not head to toe-but shorts that are not tight and a top that coversneck to shorts. Is that really such a scacrifice?

In dating I think that if two people disagree with any boundary, rather than making a point by saying "if you do that, then, why can't "I" do this?" What I believe to be the best solution is to "take the higher ground". Then you will both "elevate: each other rather than bring each other down a notch or two.

There is no good reason to reveal too much of our bodies. Why enice others? And if one is not not enticing others, why would one want to be revealing?

Love and Blessings to all,

Frank
